Colourful Tadley Mural unveiled in the town centre

The Tadley Mural, designed and painted with the help of residents, was officially revealed on Monday, August 10, by Cllr Jacky Tustain, the Mayor of Basingstoke.

The artwork was created under the guidance of artist duo Two Lost Birds and was the first major project of the Tadley & District Youth Action Council, formed in July 2025.

Amy Smith, from Two Lost Birds, said: "Two lost birds were commissioned to oversee this great mural project.

"We have very much enjoyed brainstorming with the young councillors and bringing their ideas to life.

"We have been welcomed by the community and are extremely pleased with all the positive comments and engagement by those involved."

The mural, which features individually painted squares, was created by people of all ages and was funded by grants from The Greenham Trust, Basingstoke and Deane Councillor’ Community Grants and The Loddon Valley Lions.

Additional support came from Flat Boy Skim, who rendered the wall, and Belvoir, which covered material costs.

The mural is already making a difference to the town centre, helping people better understand the area’s history.

Organisers hope it will inspire lasting pride in the community and encourage more collaborative projects in the future.
