Byron's cafe in Hartley Wintney continues to thrive

Byron's, a family-run independent cafe established by mother and son, Tamzin Stuart and Thomas Hyam, has expressed gratitude for the community support they have received since opening.

The pair opened the cafe on the High Street in November, named after the family dog, Byron, who passed away at the beginning of 2025.

Tamzin said: “Our biggest success so far has been the incredible response of the local community, from the faces we see every day to the people who pop in on occasion. It is something that our team and both of us are always thankful for, and we are so proud to be part of the local community.

"We also enjoy being somewhere that people can come and enjoy a good conversation as well as our offering. The stories and the history we learn from those we meet are always fascinating and something we look forward to hearing every time."

Tamzin was previously a charity fundraiser for the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre, while Thomas has had a lengthy career in the hospitality industry.

The pair was inspired to start the café after coming across a location in Hartley Wintney.

The area holds personal significance for Tamzin, as it’s where she grew up and where many of their family members have lived.

Tamzin said: "Looking forward to the future, we are excited to continue building on our reputation and attract people to come and experience our hospitality, and showing them the best that Hartley Wintney has to offer away from the café.

"We can't wait to be their next discovery."
