EMOTIONS ran high when the winners of Community Project category took to the stage at the Basingstoke A Place to be Proud of Awards.
Representatives from Inclusion Basingstoke accepted the award for the 2025 Baton of Hope Tour which passed through the town to raise awareness of suicide and ensure people who are struggling know where to turn for help.
Led by Inclusion Education’s relationships director, Marie Greenhalgh, the tour was held on September 25 following months of planning, creating a connected journey across the town linking organisations, volunteers, professionals and residents.

Judges described the project as “an inspiring community movement that provided a vital voice for individuals during their darkest moments”.
Accepting the award, Marie said: “Thank you so much. The Baton of Hope tour was one of the most important and powerful things I have ever done. If it stopped one person feeling alone and there’s no hope then it was worth all of it. To anyone who feels alone, there is hope and there is help.”
The other category finalists were:
Basingstoke Business for Good
Basingstoke Food Bank
Helping Dogs and Cats CIC
