A gym has been shortlisted for a 'Gym of the Year' competition, and its owners are full of pride.

Momentum, based at Unit B, Daneshill Central in Basingstoke, is one of eight gyms in the running for the title.

A spokesperson from Momentum said: "Being nominated for Gym of the Year means the world to everyone at Momentum.

"As the new owners of Momentum, we've worked hard to create more than just a place to exercise.

"Our vision has always been to build a welcoming, intimidation-free environment where people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels feel comfortable walking through the doors."

The gym’s owners include Alice, who first joined as a member nine years ago and has since become a co-owner through years of "dedication, learning, and growth."

Jordan, a personal trainer, now works alongside her to help people achieve their health and fitness goals in a supportive environment.

The spokesperson said: "At Momentum, every workout is coached and supported.

"We believe nobody should feel lost, judged, or unsure of where to start.

"Our members place their trust in us to help them achieve their goals, improve their health, and become stronger versions of themselves, and that is a responsibility we never take lightly.

"What makes this nomination particularly special is that it comes from the people who matter most: our members."

The full shortlist includes Momentum, The Barbelle Club, Fonseca Fitness, Village Gym, QM Sports Centre, Beechdown, Lifestyle Fitness, and My Fit Pod.

Momentum’s owners say they are especially proud of the community atmosphere they have built, describing the gym as "we're one gym family" where confidence is built and friendships are formed.

The spokesperson said: "To be recognised for the culture, support, and community we've built is an honour.

"Winning would be incredible, but simply being nominated by the people who trust us with their goals, training, and results is something we are immensely proud of."

Members of the public can vote for their favourite gym by submitting voting coupons printed in the Basingstoke Gazette.

The coupons will appear in editions of the newspaper on June 4 and June 11.

Votes can be delivered in person to the Gazette office at Absolutely Offices on Lutyens Close or mailed to Gym of the Year, Hampshire Chronicle, 5 Upper Brook Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8AL.
