Popular dog show returns to Basingstoke this month

Bark in the Park, a family event hosted by Helping Dogs and Cats CIC, will take place at Popley Fields Community Centre on Saturday, May 30, from 1pm to 5pm.

There will be food trucks, a dog show, a bouncy castle, a car boot sale, a tombola, lots of games, and more than 50 stalls selling gifts, treats, pet accessories and more.

Bark in the Park is free to attend for absolutely anybody. All money raised will go towards the charity.

For the car boot sale, slots cost £8 for a car, and you must arrive at 12pm with no access after 12.30pm. For more details, email HDCUKevents@gmail.com.

Helping Dogs and Cats CIC Rescue is a charity that focuses on rehabilitating cats and dogs across Hampshire. 

Animals found abandoned or neglected are taken in by the charity for treatment and care before being put up for adoption.

The aim of Helping Dogs and Cats CIC Rescue is to find the animals a forever home and to keep them in one place. 

Helping Dogs and Cats CIC Rescue has a shop in Basingstoke, at 4 Feathers Lane, in Basingstoke town centre, where it has been for nearly seven years.

It is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Sunday, and sells homeware, shoes, clothing, babywear, and pet care and accessories.

Its goal is to contribute £10,000 to local initiatives and to create an animal-friendly environment for everyone.

Every three months, Helping Dogs and Cats CIC Rescue visits Tesco in Chineham for three days, between 9am and 4pm, when people can donate money and food to the charity.

Andy Vince, a volunteer for the charity, said it had been able to obtain “eight and a half trolleys” worth of donations at previous events.

However, the charity needs more support because it is in desperate need of a bigger van to transport items to events.

On May 27, Helping Dogs and Cats CIC Rescue will be at Tesco in Chineham town centre for its awareness day, handing out leaflets and hosting a tombola.
