A care home has honoured the dedication of its nursing team with a heartfelt celebration.

Cherry Blossom Manor in Bramley marked International Nurses Day with a special afternoon of thanks and reflection on Tuesday, May 12.

Nurses, carers and residents gathered for team games, personal tributes and thoughtful moments of gratitude, all centred around the 2026 theme "Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care."

Gigi Despojo, general manager at Cherry Blossom Manor, said: "At Cherry Blossom Manor our nurses and staff are hard-working, dedicated, and passionate about caring for others, and that compassion and commitment has shone through even more over the past year.

"They continue to work tirelessly, and I’m proud of the professionalism and duty of care they uphold.

"It is also lovely to celebrate our residents who were nurses themselves and thank them for all the hard work they did during their careers."

Residents Jean and Molly wrote heartfelt poems about their feelings toward the nurses.

Messages of thanks were also shared from the managing director and nursing director.

Cherry Blossom Manor is part of Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, offering nursing, residential and respite care.
