A light-hearted treasure hunt is turning shopping trips into opportunities for giving back.

The Keys to Kindness event, taking place at Festival Place, will run on May 28 and May 30 between 11am and 4pm.

It invites visitors to take part in a playful search across the centre that brings together shoppers, retailers and community organisations.

Those who receive a ‘key to kindness’ from any participating venue can take it to the concierge desk in Porchester Square for a chance to unlock a locker.

If the key fits, the winner receives a small treat and triggers a £5 donation to Spotlight UK, Festival Place’s charity partner.

Founded in 2009, Spotlight UK began by providing free and low-cost activities for young people in Basingstoke, helping build confidence and self-esteem.

The charity now reaches across the South of England and continues to expand into new areas.

Spotlight UK provides a variety of support services for young people, including emotional assistance and practical guidance to help them overcome challenges and unlock opportunities.

The charity believes every child deserves the chance to thrive, grow in confidence and feel supported, no matter their background.

Vicky Hickson, centre director at Festival Place, said: "Keys to Kindness is about doing something simple but meaningful.

"It gives people a reason to explore the centre, have a bit of fun and at the same time contribute to a local charity doing important work in the community.

"We want Festival Place to be somewhere people come not just to shop, but to spend time, connect and be part of something positive."

The event is part of Festival Place’s wider efforts to create experiences that go beyond shopping while supporting the community.

Supporting organisations like Spotlight UK aligns with Festival Place’s mission to contribute to the wellbeing and development of its community.

Visitors can join the treasure hunt for free by speaking to staff at any participating shop, restaurant, café or leisure venue during the event.

Around half the keys distributed during the event will be winners, creating a steady stream of donations as well as prizes, offers and giveaways.
