Penalty miss sees Hartley Wintney held by Ascot United

In front of a decent sized crowd, Hartley Wintney and Ascot United shared the points in a match where both sides struggled for quality.

Hartley had an early chance on five minutes when Calvin Camara crossed from the right and Sam De St. Croix headed over.

The visitors' first effort arrived on 16 minutes when Quaye Vine linked well with Tyrese Osbourne, who shot wide of goal.

Ascot had the edge and went ahead on 22 minutes.

A corner on the left from Osbourne went to the back post where Henry Curtis nodded back across goal for Lui Edwards to head home from close range (0-1).

Eight minutes later it was almost two for the visitors when Vine got behind the Row defence and his shot was saved by Nick Jupp in the Row goal.

The ball rebounded to Osbourne who saw his fierce effort beaten away by Jupp.

Jupp was again called into action with a save from Vine following a move down the right.

On 32 minutes Hartley came close when a cross from George Wallace found De St. Croix, who shot over.

Four minutes later Camara and Jack Penton combined well on the right for the Row and the cross from the latter was headed over by Liam Gavin.

On the stroke of half time Camara was again involved when he found Connor Lynch in the area and the Row striker saw his shot go just wide.

The second half proved to be a dour midfield scrap with neither side able to gain supremacy.

On 69 minutes there was a period of Hartley pressure and Joel Johnson-Cole saw his shot blocked and Lynch on the follow-up saw his shot saved by Kie Plumley in the visitors' goal.

The Row plugged away and were finally rewarded with the equalising goal on 85 minutes.

A snap shot from Lewis Hillary was partially blocked.

However, the ball fell kindly to Camara who shot past the outrushing Plumley (1-1).

A minute later things could have got even better for Hartley when Camara was felled inside the penalty area and a spot kick awarded.

Camara dusted himself down but his tame effort went wide of the goal.

Into added time and the Row were reduced to 10 men when Joel Johnson-Cole picked up a second yellow card followed by a red and was sent from the field of play.

Best for Hartley were Nick Jupp in goal, Joel Johnson-Cole in defence, and man of the match Aaron Burchett.
