Basingstoke Town FC : Injury updates on Herbert and Barough

Max Herbert was sidelined following the injury he sustained during Basingstoke town FC's 3-3 draw with Taunton Town.

Having already had an X-ray following the game, Max was assessed by a consultant on Saturday, April 4, and is now scheduled for a scan on Wednesday, April 15, which will give a clearer picture of the extent of the injury.

The club says that early indications suggest the issue could relate to a sprain of the superior tibiofibular joint, potentially aligning with an avulsion injury. Further investigation next week will confirm and guide the next steps in his recovery.

Manager Dan Brownlie said: “Max has been brilliant since his arrival.

"On and off the pitch, and we were absolutely gutted to lose him. We’ll support him in any way we can to ensure a full and smooth recovery.”

Another update was given for the injured Joe Barough who, after undergoing a scan, has been diagnosed with a severe Grade 3c hamstring injury, sustained while representing Reading FC.

As a result, he is due to undergo surgery this weekend.

A spokesperson for Basingstoke Town FC said: "It’s a tough setback for Joe, who has made a real impact during his time with our club.

"His energy, bravery in possession and ability to drive the team forward quickly made him a key figure, and he has been a huge positive both on and off the pitch.

"Joe is in excellent hands at Reading, where his rehabilitation will be overseen by their medical team, including our Head of Medical, Seanagh McCarthy, who also works full-time with the club.

"Everyone at Basingstoke Town is right behind Joe.

"We’ll be supporting him throughout his recovery in whatever we can and look forward to seeing his progress."
