Full weekend closures are planned for the M3 in the upcoming weeks.
The closures are part of the M3 junction 9 improvement project and will impact routes including the M3, A34, and A33.
The work requires full weekend closures of the M3 in both directions between junctions 8 and 9 to allow for the installation of steel beams for new roundabout bridge decks.
The closures will take place from 9pm on Friday, January 30, until 6am on Monday, February 2, and again from 9pm on Friday, February 13, until 6am on Monday, February 16.

A diversion route map is available and can be accessed on Google Maps.
The council has reminded drivers operating large vehicles, lorries, or freight travelling to and from the coast to use the strategic diversion via the A3 during the closures.
In addition to the M3 closures, there will be a separate 24-hour southbound closure on the A34 (from Three Maids Hill) and A33 (from the Cart and Horses junction).
The closure will be in place from 9pm on Saturday, February 7 2026, until 9pm on Sunday, February 8.
This is to enable the installation of a new beam on the Kings Worthy Bridge following the successful removal of the northern beam in November.
The improvement works are being delivered by the Volker Fitzpatrick Balfour Beatty joint venture in partnership with National Highways: South-East.
