Camrose development to showcase Buckskin and South Ham homes

The Sovereign Hill Partnership (SHP), a partnership between Sovereign Network Group (SNG) and housebuilder Hill, will submit a formal planning application to build 100 'affordable' homes on the site of the former Camrose stadium.

This development will showcase the range of housing to be built as part of the wider regeneration of Buckskin and South Ham, SNG confirmed.

Polly Gardner, director of regeneration and major projects at SNG and Sarah Fordham, head of community engagement at SNG, gave an update to residents about the plans at the first South Ham and Buckskin Regeneration Committee meeting in the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council civic offices on January 8.

Speaking during the meeting, Ms Gardner said that four events will take place in Buckskin and South Ham in February, when areas are identified as a first priority for the major project.

She said that this will be followed by a formal planning application for the Camrose stadium in the spring, adding: "We're currently on programme to do that at the moment."

Ms Gardner explained that a range of housing will be created on the site, to show, on a smaller scale, what the developers are capable of delivering for the wider regeneration project.

She said: "Having a range of options that meet the needs of the people is absolutely the fundamental principle of what we're doing and I wanted to just point again to the former football ground at Camrose - a really good example of hopefully where we will be doing that and we want to show that we can deliver that range of housing options on a relatively small scale area.

"We want to signal that with Camrose and show that as the first exemplar scheme of how good it can be."

She confirmed that more information will be shared in due course.
