AN investigation has been launched after a female member of Basingstoke Town FC's staff was targeted by "serious, obscene" language by an opposition fan.
The incident happened at 'Stoke's away fixture against Weymouth on Saturday, November 15.
An "obscene" comment of a sexual nature was directed towards one of 'Stoke's female members of staff, a comment which was picked up in the audio match coverage.
Weymouth FC has been contacted by the FA, with the club warning it could face "damaging" consequences because of the incident.

A spokesperson for Weymouth FC said: "We would like to inform supporters that we have been contacted by the Football Association regarding a serious incident which occurred on Saturday, 15th November at our home game versus Basingstoke Town.
"An obscene comment of a sexual nature was shouted at one of the Basingstoke Town female members of staff and was picked up on the audio of the match coverage.
"We are currently collaborating with all agencies to identify the person responsible, as this is a very serious situation the individual has put the club in, which could have potentially damaging consequences for us all.
"If you have any information, heard the comment, or know who the person is, we strongly urge you to contact the football club as a matter of urgency on 01305 785558.
"We remind supporters that racist, sexist, homophobic, and all abusive language and threatening behaviour will not be tolerated in any form.
"Our security team are always on hand to ensure your safety, and you should always report to them any incident you see or hear that is of an offensive nature."
