Injury-hit Hartley Wintney went down to a heavy defeat at AFC Portchester in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Tuesday, October 7.

The home side dominated play for much of the match and scored five unopposed goals.

The Royals went ahead on 8 minutes when Les Wort converted a pass from Brett Pitman.

Approaching half-time, the lead was doubled when a penalty was awarded for handball in the Hartley area.

Brett Pitman converted despite a great effort from Row goalie Nick Jupp to save.

The second period continued in the same pattern and on 63 minutes the Royals' two prolific strikers were again involved.

Pitman headed a cross to Les Wort, who converted from close range.

On 75 minutes it became four following a slick Portchester move which saw Alfie Stanley convert with an excellent strike.

Four minutes later, an error in the Row defence enabled Connor Duffin to race through and score.

To their credit, the Row plugged away and came close to a consolation goal when Alex Body was unlucky to see a good stroke hit the post.

All in all, a tough night for the Row who will be looking for better fortune when they travel to Westfield on Saturday.
