A NEW bar and live music venue could be bringing much-needed energy to Basingstoke's nightlife after a licensing application was submitted.

An application was submitted by Eclipse Bar Ltd to serve alcohol, host live music and more between 7am and 2am from Mondays to Sundays in 8 Winchester Street.

The premises, at the Top of Town, was previously occupied by Taboo The Unknown, a shisha lounge which unexpectedly closed in February this year.

Eclipse Bar Ltd has asked Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council if it can host live and recorded music, sell alcohol and host other activities during the stated time period.

The full application can be found here: https://publicnoticeportal.uk/notice/alcohol-and-licensing/6899d1897a4b3166a34948b6

It reads: "A notice is hereby given that Eclipse Bar Ltd has submitted an application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for a new premises licence under the Licensing Act 2003 for 8 Winchester Street, Basingstoke, RG21 7DY.

"The proposed licensable activities are: Live Music, Recorded Music and The Sale of Alcohol. Activities will take place between 07:00am and 02:00am Monday to Sunday."
