Barnsgrove clubhouse in Greywell is Basingstoke's hidden gem

Less than 10 minutes from Basingstoke is Barnsgrove, a private members' club on the outskirts of Greywell, which opened in September last year.

The family-run business was set up by Jo and James Butler who wanted to create a "vibrant community" of members to have a space to call their own, come together to network and socialise.

The private members' clubhouse comprises clubrooms, dining areas, event spaces, fitness studio and gym. It also features hot desks, meeting rooms and entertainment, including a bar and padel courts.

Regular social, foodie and fitness functions are held in Barnsgrove, with an upcoming Smash Social inviting the public to try out the new padel courts taking place on August 23.

With a focus on sustainability, Barnsgrove's chef ensures all ingredients, many of which are sourced locally, are used up, and no two days have the same menu.

The custom-designed building with a colour palette reflective of the nature surrounding it, features a terrace, a café and bar with an all-day menu and seasonal food, plus a gym with personal trainers for one-to-one sessions and a studio for fitness, toning and mindfulness classes and three fully equipped rooms offering beauty and wellness 
treatments.

Adult memberships costs £275 per month, while under-25s can sign up and pay £125 per month.

Jo Butler, founder of Barnsgrove, said: "Barnsgrove is a place of connection and collaboration, a community that is built as a modern-day country club with wellness, social and work at its heart.

"The aim was to have the clubhouse sit comfortably in its surroundings, to use natural resources and materials inside and out so as not to jar with the incredible views that surround the space.

"We set out to use as many local suppliers in the build, putting money back into the local economy and are now not only employing local people, we’re also home to many entrepreneurs and SMEs who use the space to build their own businesses within the Barnsgrove’s walls.

"The club is also the perfect venue for events, meetings, off-sites, corporate team building and photoshoots with each event made to measure by our dedicated team.

"The community is growing, and it is so exciting to see where we are a year on after opening with the buzz of members all coming together over lunch, coffee, in a wellness class or battling it out on the padel courts.”
