PRIZES and bragging rights are up for grabs at an upcoming family sports event this month.

The free-to-attend Rotary Sport festival at Cranbourne School, on Saturday, July 12, is promising to bring "big winners and big prizes" to visitors who enter the quiz.

Described as "a quiz for all ages and backgrounds," guests are invited to join as a team and challenge their sporting knowledge against other families and teams in the hope of winning a prize.

Dr Tunde Adelakun, president of Rotary Sport, said that "lot's of juicy prizes will be on offer" as the organisation gears up for the big day.

The festival itself will feature a circuit of several different sports for guests to participate in, including five-a-side football, walking football, basketball, bowls, table tennis, darts, and a mini golf putting challenge.

Readers still have the opportunity to join as a volunteer and can do so by contacting together@rotarysport.org or by visiting  www.rotarysport.org/join-us

Dr Tunde previously said the festival will be "An event that will showcase Basingstoke and suburbs as what can truly transform into a sporting town, a town of sporting success and excellence."

The event aims to be an ‘open day of fun-filled sporting activities,' bringing Basingstoke together, promoting the Rotary brand and raising funds for various charitable works.

Tunde continued: "Creating a safe haven for our youth and adults alike to come to and lose themselves in sporting environments - with activity always available for people who come through - to play board games, indoor games as well as catch up on live sport on tv in an environment which will be neither a pub or a loud lounge. That is our goal.

"The July 12 event at Cranbourne School will be a test run for what will become a regular feature that will be well known across the town of Basingstoke in the long run."
