Marnel Lodge Care Home residents collect food for foodbank

The residents of Barchester's Marnel Lodge Care Home came together on Giving Tuesday to gather food for Christ Church in Chineham.

Residents Louie Corallo, John Fitchett, Freda Sheehy and John Lake said the experience was "deeply rewarding" and made "even more special" by the support of families, staff and the care home's general manager, Anju Abraham.

The initiative was supported by families, staff and the care home's general manager (Image: Marnel Lodge) Anju said: "This heartwarming act of kindness not only provided vital support to the community but also brought a profound sense of connection and purpose to everyone involved.

"It’s a testament to the power of collective action and the joy of giving back.

"And we have promised Toney Butler, the staff in Christ Church Chineham, that we will be participating in more events with them in the new year."

The care home residents were proud to see their efforts make a "tangible difference" when the collected items were delivered to the church.

The initiative was part of Giving Tuesday, a global movement that encourages people to do good deeds and give back to their communities.
