LAST week I told you about the Patronal Festival and Michaelmas fair being held on Saturday, at St Michael's, Basingstoke, which is being opened by the Bishop of Basingstoke at 10am. I also referred to a concert being given in the evening by the Innovations Jazz Orchestra. I now have details of the programme, which is very exciting for jazz lovers.

There will be music by Glen Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Walt Disney for the children and much more.

Tickets are £7 from the church office on 01256 329528.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, however, to get the best seats it is worth coming early.

NEWS from The Salvation Army. Members are holding a photographic exhibition on Saturday, at their building in Wessex Close, off Winchester Road, Basingstoke, from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Come and browse, have a cup of tea and a chat.

They are also starting four new fellowship interest groups in October, starting with "Photography" on October 1, "Worship and Dance" on October 8, "Gardening" on October 15 and "Puppetry" on October 22.

All groups meet at 7.30pm.
