Sir.-My daughter called an ambulance for my grandson on Friday, September 19.
They were there within minutes and immediately started tending to my 15-month-old grandson, who was fitting and having difficulty breathing.
These fantastic people got Joe across Basingstoke to the doctors and nurses in time.
The A&E team were waiting for him and, by the time I arrived, Joe had the anaesthetists, paediatric consultants, registrars, paediatric nurse, A&E nurse and the x-ray department all looking after him.
The A&E receptionist was caring and helpful towards us as well.
These caring, professional people saved my grandson's life and, as well as looking after him, they were constantly reassuring his parents and grandparents.
My daughter is also three months pregnant, and she fainted. The team immediately flew into action and looked after her too.
The doctor and nurses in the early pregnancy unit examined my daughter and scanned her and the baby is doing well.
These people, in the course of their day, have saved our grandson's life and we will always be grateful to them.
Dr Nicholas and all the teams that pulled together are amazing and we cannot thank them enough.
Basingstoke should be very proud of Basingstoke hospital. I know I am.
