A HIP-HOP band have spoken about their excitement ahead of their gig in Hampshire this Friday.
The Scribes, a Bristol band who have been performing for nearly 20 years, will be coming to Aldershot on June 7 where they will be performing at The Tracks.
This is the group's debut appearance at Aldershot and their only attendance in Hampshire during the 2024 tour.
Band member, Shaun Amos, said: “It’s lovely to see an independent music venue in places like Aldershot that are supporting original live music and bringing bands to town as well as making sure the music doesn’t die out.
“It would be wonderful if everyone could come out, it’s going to be an amazing show and it’ll be fantastic to see as many people as possible to make sure this scene stays alive and keeps going.
“We really try and bring the big festival stage, massive crowd and feeling, vibes and environment to everything we do, that’s what we are known for, we try and make that feeling happen everywhere we are.
"There will be a lot of crowd involvement, participation, good times, fun and good music. Everyone will just have a great time which is what we try to make sure of."
The band was formed by Shaun Amos and his childhood best friend Jonny Steele.
Shaun said: “We started making music as we grew up and formed the band around that. We have a few different beat boxers who come in."
He said he has “always looked up to Damon Albarn” and that the Blur legend was an inspiration and what kickstarted the band's interest in hip-hop music.
The Scribes started their 2024 tour in February and will continue their journey until the end of the year where they will be venturing to festivals like Glastonbury, OceanFest and Right To Roam.
Shaun said: “We are looking forward to Glastonbury, that’s always a big thing, everyone’s excited for that. There's always something interesting going on there.
“We haven’t done Right To Roam before, the venue there looks really solid for up and coming music, we are looking forward to some of the acts there."
After their tour this year, they don’t plan on stopping and are looking to head to France.
“We are in talks to go to the Alps in January for the ski season," Shaun said.
Tickets to Friday's gig cost £5 before 10pm and £10 after, on the door.
