THE residents of Marnel Lodge care home in Popley, celebrated a traditional Fish and Chip Friday with food from their favourite local, Olivers.
Adhering to centuries-old British tradition, residents remarked at how the process of ordering and eating their fish, chips, and mushy peas from Olivers brought a nostalgic sense of joy.
The residents, many of whom frequented Olivers with family or friends before moving to Marnel Lodge, hankered for a good old chippy dinner.
Although sending all 62 residents out to dine at Olivers safely was a challenge, the Marnel team rose to the occasion, and decided to bring Olivers in-house.
One resident couldn’t help but express his delight, saying: "Nothing beats a chippy tea, a battered cod from the chippy takes me back to my childhood!"
General manager Anju Abraham said: "It really makes a difference to our residents when the team go above and beyond and it’s been wonderful to see our residents enjoying themselves."
