GUY Jewell Cup holders Basingstoke and North Hants have been given a bye into this season’s semi-finals.

The other three quarter-finals in the north Hampshire’s top T20 competition will see last season’s beaten finalists Old Basing take on Hook and Newnham Basics A at May’s Bounty on Monday June 24.

Odiham and Greywell A face Andover at the same venue on Monday July 8.

The last quarter-final is between Rotherfield Park and Hartley Wintney.

Meanwhile in the Cyril Thompson Trophy the first round draw has thrown up a really juicy tie as last year’s winners Chawton will face Hook B, the side they beat in the final. The re-match takes place at May’s Bounty on June 11.

Next week will see the final Trophy preliminary game as Stratfield Turgis face Yateley on Monday May 20.

The first preliminary game took place on Monday and before it, there was a moment of silence for umpire John Golding who passed away earlier this year.

Oakley won the toss and elected to bat and made 80-8 from their 16 overs as Alex Brundle top scored with 19. The best Overton bowlers were Jake Carvell 3-13 and Nick Tomlin 2-5.

Overton cruised to victory with an unbeaten 35 from Andy Galvin and 31 not out from Kevin Barlow as they won by nine wickets.

After this result, the full Trophy first round draw is as follows: Odiham B v Ashford Hill (Monday, June 3), Basingstoke Development XI v Oakley B (Tuesday, June 4), Aldermaston Rugby v Ramsdell (Monday, June 10), Hook B v Chawton (Tuesday June 11), Kingsclere v East Woodhay (Monday, June 17), Overton v St Mary’s (Tuesday, June 18), Herriard v Basingstoke Hockey (Monday, July 1) and Stratfield Turgis or Yateley v Rotherwick (Monday, July 15).

All the games are at May’s Bounty and start at 6pm with admission being free.
