A Basingstoke drink driver has been disqualified from driving for two years.

Desmond McGlinchey, 53, of Western Way in Basingstoke, drove a motor vehicle in New Street in Basingstoke on March 10, when the alcohol level in his blood was above the limit.

At the time of checking, he had 100 microgrammes of alcohol in 100mls of breath.

He pleaded guilty to the offence on Thursday, April 25. Subsequently, he was disqualified from driving for 24 months.

He should pay £85 as costs to crown prosecution service and £114 as a surcharge.

McGlinchey must also undertake 40 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
