The following cases have been heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court...

CATALIN BARBULESCU, 45, of Charlton Road, Southampton was convicted of using a phone whilst driving a Mercedes on the M27 eastbound near Eastleigh. She was banned from driving for six months and received six points on her licence. Barbulescu must also pay a £660 fine plus £110 court costs and a £264 surcharge. 

MARK DIXON, 34, of Bembridge, Netley Abbey admitted drink driving a Mercedes Sprinter Van on Above Bar Street, Southampton. He was caught with 78 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. Dixon was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £500. He must pay a £200 surcharge. 

ASHLEY SMITH, 37, of Caspars Way, Fordingbridge pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a vehicle in Fordingbridge. The total value of the damage was £750. Smith received a six-month conditional discharge and must pay £744 compensation.

LINDA JAMES, 35, of Hurstbourne Place, Southampton admitted theft from a shop after she stole biscuits and flowers worth £21.15 from Co-Op. James was fined £40 and must pay £85 court costs plus a £16 surcharge. 

MARK FITZEARLE, 33, of Clarendon Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop after £126.20 worth of tobacco was stolen from Co-Op in Nursling and Tesco in Southampton. He was ordered to pay back the value of the stolen goods in compensation. 

GLEN TUFFIN, 55, of Warburton Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident on Bursledon Road, Southampton. A person suffered bruising, swelling and tenderness as a result of the incident which involved an MG car Tuffin had been driving. He also admitted to driving without a licence and driving without due care and attention. Tuffin was banned from driving for two years and fined £1,000. He must pay £85 court costs and a £400 surcharge.
