A man was allegedly struck with a metal pole during an assault on a high street.
Police officers were called shortly after 6pm on Tuesday following reports of an altercation in Bedford Place.
Upon arriving at the scene, a man in his 40s said he had been assaulted with a metal pole.

He sustained injuries to his arms and head.
A 23-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He remains in police custody at the current time.
