POLICE remain at the scene of an incident after a man was stabbed in Basingstoke.

Pictures taken in Braddock Court this morning (April 30) show police cars and crime scene tape blocking off areas to the public whilst officers carry out investigations.

Other pictures taken last night, (April 29) show the air ambulance responding to the scene before leaving just after 8.15pm as well as an ambulance, which left the area at approximately 8.40pm.

Officers were called at 6.49pm on Monday, April 29, to reports of a stabbing in Braddock Court, Chapel Gate. 

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Officers have launched an investigation and three men from Basingstoke, aged 48, 43 and 42, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody.

Police are continuing to establish the circumstances leading to the man’s death and will remain in the area while enquiries continue.

Anyone with any concerns is being asked to speak to an officer on the scene. 

Residents told the Gazette that they were 'very sad', with one saying they were 'very shocked because this never happens here'.
