Hartley Wintney brought down the curtain for the 2023-2024 league fixture season with one win and one loss in the final week.

On Wednesday they returned from their trip to Guernsey with a win thanks to goals from CJ Fearn, Mason Obeng and Sam Bartlett.  The final match at Leatherhead who are in the promotion playoffs ended in a 3-0 loss.

At Leatherhead the match started quietly and the first chance did not arrive until 19 minutes.  On 28 minutes a shot from 40 yards from Ollie Cook for the home side saw Adam Melville in the Row goal pull off a good save.

However, the opening goal was only delayed by two further minutes. A lobbed ball into the Hartley penalty area saw Olutade gain possession and his pass saw Ghas Sow shoot home from 12 yards. (1-0)

On 33 minutes some indecisive Hartley defending gave Sow a chance which he fired wide of goal. Two minutes later Sow crossed to Olutade who saw his header saved well by Melville.  The home side continued to have the edge and on 43 minutes increased the lead when a Tanners player was upended in the penalty area. Trey Masikini took the spot kick and scored comfortably. (2-0)

In added time a fierce shot from the edge of the area by Masikini was beaten out by Melville.

The second half was barely two minutes old when Leatherhead added a third goal. Alpha Diallo broke from his own half and threaded a pass through the Hartley defence to Ibrahim Olutade who ran on before shooting past Melville. (3-0)

On 80 minutes a right wing cross from Tyler Cox for the Tanners found Daniel Hector who headed wide.  Two minutes later Lynch and Sam Bartlett combined well for the Row with the latter bringing out a save from Tangara in the Tanners goal.

Hartley gave a reasonable account in this match with all the players putting in a decent shift. Leatherhead are a decent side with a good mixture of physical presence and no little skill.  For the Row the pick were Adam Melville in goal, Noah Chengun in defence and Mason Obeng plus Mo Jallow in midfield.
