TWO men received 'immediate emergency care' from firefighters after a car fire at Festival Place. 

At approximately 8pm on Thursday, April 11, fire crews were spotted in Churchill Way.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 19:47 crews from Basingstoke were called to Festival Place in Basingstoke to deal with a vehicle fire in a multi-storey car park.

"Fire extinguishers had been used to try and put out the fire before crews arrived at the scene.

"Crews used 1 jet and 2 sets of breathing apparatus to put out the fire. Crews also administered immediate emergency care to two males at the scene before they were handed over to the care of SCAS. The stop message came in at 21:14."

A spokesperson for Festival Place said: "Last night at around 8pm the fire service was called to Festival Place where a car had caught fire on Level 3 of the car park.

"The owner of the car was not injured and no other cars were damaged."

A resident at Crown Heights said that smoke from the fire in Festival Place blew into the apartment block, with some residents choosing to leave.

They added: "We hope the driver is ok, but we live in fear."
