POOCHES and their owners enjoyed plenty of Easter fun at a dog café near Overton over the weekend.

Cherished Dog Café, at Laverstoke Park Farm, hosted a Dog Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, with all dogs, large and small, invited to take part.

Around 40 dogs and 70 humans attended the event which gave the four-legged friends the chance to hunt for hard boiled eggs which had been placed around the field in sensory tubes and buried in the sand, while humans searched for egg ornaments, which were then exchanged for the chocolate kind.

Also on the day there was five rounds of egg and spoon races, which café director Jade Phillips said was “really fun” and resulted in a lot of contestants dropping their eggs as their dogs were pulling them.

For those who dressed up there was even a fancy dress competition, with the winners wearing caterpillar and butterfly costumes.

This is the first event hosted by Jade and her team since taking over the café. She said: “We were absolutely delighted and overwhelmed at the positive response to people supporting a local business – it is really lovely.”

A raffle on the day also raised nearly £100 for The Red Foundation (Emergency Dachshund Rescue UK).
