THE Old Basing Women’s Institute (WI) celebrated its 105th anniversary with a party and visit from Basingstoke's mayor.
The WI was founded in 1919 and, on Tuesday, March 5, marked the 105 years by inviting guests from across Basingstoke and Deane, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke, Cllr David Leeks and Amanda Leeks.
The mayoress was presented with a basket of flowers by Women's institute member, Sarah Jones.

A spokesperson for Old Basing Women's Institute said: "We were very pleased that our longest serving member, Iris Harman, who joined Old Basing WI in 1966, was also able to attend.
"Entertainment was provided by the Belle Canto Trio who sang us some popular songs from each decade of the last hundred years."

After a light supper, the mayor joined Old Basing WI president, Sue Stewart, to cut a celebratory birthday cake.
Old Basing Women's Institute meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm at the Parish rooms, St Mary's Church, Old Basing.
