A PERSON has died after being found on the tracks near Hook train station, British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed. 

Emergency services responded to a report shortly before midday on Monday, March 18, of a casualty on the tracks near Hook station.

British Transport Police dispatched officers, who attended the scene, in addition to paramedics and the fire service. 

However, despite the efforts of the emergency services, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by BTP but is not thought to be suspicious.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police received a report shortly before midday today (18 March) to a casualty on the tracks near Hook Railway Station.

"Paramedics and fire also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is being investigated but is not thought to be suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner."

South Western Railway services between Farnborough Main and Basingstoke were impacted by the incident, with cancellations, delays and severe disruption.

Station Road, in Hook, between the junctions of the A30 and Hook Road, was also closed, with diversions in place to reduce disruption
