RESIDENTS at a care home in Bramley were treated to a surprise visit from some cute guinea pigs.

Cherry Blossom Manor's residents had an entertaining afternoon with the small, furry friends who lapped up the attention while being stroked and combed.

Gigi Despojo, general manager at the care home in German Road, Bramley, said: "Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today.

"We knew that having the guinea pigs here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.

"We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people."

Glowing with excitement, resident Jackie Grandage shared her joy: "As a child, I used to love all the animals on the nearby farm.

"Today was very enjoyable and it was wonderful that the animals were amongst us."

Barchester Healthcare, the UK's one of the largest care providers, owns Cherry Blossom Manor.

The home, providing residential care, nursing care and dementia care 77 residents, aims to deliver personalised care from respite to long-term stays.
