A BAKERY in Basingstoke has been named one of the ‘Bakers’ Dozen 2024’ as part of a list honouring the top 13 artisan bakeries in the country.

The Street Bakeshop in Old Basing has earned the spot of number six on the list by baking magazine British Baker following an event on Tuesday, January 30, which saw the bakery earn recognition from industry professionals.

The bakery, which has previously been crowned ‘Baker of the Year’ 2023 and 2021, is described by the magazine as serving ‘fantastic baked goods that people love to eat time and time again’ with loaves, sausage rolls, hot smoked meat sandwiches, and pastries among the ‘delectable’ goods available.

In an artisan bakery, the baked goods are often made by hand, with traditional processes and high-quality ingredients often favoured.

Street Bakeshop owner and baker, Tim Goodwin, said: "The Artisan Collective 'Bakers Dozen' is a newly created award by 'British Baker’ and was first given out in 2023. This award is a little bit different. Here, fellow bakeries vote for other Artisan Bakeries that they respect.

"We are incredibly proud to have made it into the Bakers Dozen for a second year running. The awards day was a fantastic opportunity to meet and mingle with like-minded Artisan Bakers, exchange ideas and stories, and get inspired.

"As a young business, being part of the Bakers Dozen is a huge honour for us and I am incredibly proud of The Street Bakeshop Team who pull out all the stops daily.”

Established in 2020, The Street Bakeshop quickly became a local favourite, garnering positive reviews from customers who appreciate the bakery's dedication to hard work and attention to detail in crafting everything from scratch.
