PLANS have been submitted to build a commercial food facility to help grow early-start food businesses.

The applications, submitted by Kingsclere Estates, outline plans to build a facility housing 16-purpose-built food processing units for ‘regional start-ups and growing food, drink, and fibre businesses’.

The plans also include onsite business support, event, and retail facilities on the land at Folly Farm, Ramsdell.

The application states: “Hampshire has a strong position within a thriving food and drink sector. Even through global crisis and cost of living pressures, the sector continues to see strong demand for local and regional food and drink products.”

The proposed building will include ‘ample’ car parking and electric charging points as well as ongoing works to blend the site into the natural landscape using tree planting and raised earth to the southeast and west of the property.

The estate at Folly Farm contains 100,000 square feet of mixed-use commercial units with the proposed building matching the scale of the existing buildings.

According to Kingsclere Estates, the estate will be a circular economy as they will regenerate natural systems, design out waste and pollution and keep products and materials in use.
