A PUB in Hazeley Heath is teaming up with North Hampshire farmers to create a six-course menu that pays homage to pork.

This March The Mutton, a cosy family-run pub and dining room located on the fringe of Hazeley Heath Nature Reserve, will come together with award-winning pig farmer, The Woodland Pig Co, to create a six-course seasonally led menu, complimented by a wine pairing menu available on the evening.

The idea for the dinner stemmed from the head chef of The Mutton, Rob Boer, in a bid to source high-quality ingredients for the menu as locally as possible, and was drawn to the story behind The Woodland Pig Co after meeting founders and farmers, Helen and Matt, during the pub's launch in 2022.

Rob said: “This is an evening I have been looking forward to delivering for such a long time. The work which Helen and Matt do is so important in terms of not only delivering 100 per cent free-range, high-quality and great-tasting produce, but also in how they care for the natural environment to ensure a sustainable operation for years to come.

"Having the opportunity to translate their produce into bold and vibrant dishes is very exciting.”

Helen and Matt founded The Woodland Pig Co, a small-scale, welfare-led farm in North-East Hampshire, to exercise their dedication to quality ingredients.

On the farm, the couple produces exceptional, native breed, free-range pork whilst improving pig welfare standards and the environment.

The event will commence with a brief talk from Helen and Matt about their story, following which Rob will deliver a menu showcasing the rich and versatility of pork whilst also delivering inventive and surprising ways to enjoy the locally farmed produce.

The Woodland Pig Co. evening will take place on Thursday, March 21 from 7pm. Tickets cost £75 per person for the food menu and are available to purchase online at themuttonathazeleyheath
