A GYMNASTICS club has received a £1,500 boost thanks to a housing developer’s community fund.

Basingstoke Gymnastics Club, which offers fun and inclusive classes to cater for all ages, needs and abilities, received the donation from the David Wilson Homes Community Fund.

The money will be used by the club to purchase new mats for the gymnasium, which currently features a soft floor area, an aerobic sprung floor, three tracks, rings, a vault area, two sunken trampolines as well as asymmetric, parallel, and high bars.

Basingstoke Gazette: Karen Holmes, finance and admin manager at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club, said: “When I had the email to say we had been chosen to receive the donation, it was received very gratefully and was also a great surprise.

“Being a charity, any donations we receive mean so much to us as we can keep the club safe and exciting for our customers.

“We would like to thank David Wilson Homes for the donation made to us and want them to know how important it is to us and the members of our club.”

The donation from David Wilson Homes came from The Barratt Foundation, which supports national and local charities across the UK.

Campbell Gregg, managing director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We’re thrilled to offer our support to Basingstoke Gymnastic Club as it continues to be such a valuable amenity for the local community.

“Our Community Fund scheme is designed to help the fantastic charities and organisations in the areas we build, and we hope our donation will help to inspire the current and future generations of gymnastics.”
