A BASINGSTOKE woman has transformed her life after losing an incredible five stone and five pounds on her Slimming World journey, marking a turning point in her life and inspiring others in the community.

Sarah Perrett's journey, filled with challenges and triumphs, has not only boosted her confidence and health but also inspired her to become a Slimming World consultant herself, eager to help others achieve similar success.

Sarah, 49, began her weight loss journey before Covid, driven by dissatisfaction with her weight and a desire for change.

Basingstoke Gazette: Sarah Perrett before and after starting her weight loss journey"I didn't want to be like this anymore," she confessed, reflecting on a moment when she realised the need for a significant shift in her lifestyle.

Joining Slimming World at Carnival Hall, in Council Road, she initially struggled but found renewed determination post-Covid, attending group sessions.

The social connection and support from the Slimming World community played a pivotal role in Sarah's success.

"Going into group and speaking to people in the same position as you - it is challenging, but you're not alone," she said.

The camaraderie, shared experiences, and understanding within the group proved instrumental in overcoming Sarah's hurdles.

Her commitment to a healthier lifestyle is evident in her daily routine, now including a two-hour walk and a more active approach to daily tasks.

"I have more energy now than I've had in years," she said.

Sarah's husband, Mark, also joined her on the weight loss journey at the start of 2023 and has lost an impressive five stone and seven pounds himself.

Their competitive spirit has not only strengthened their relationship but also served as mutual motivation.

"My family is amazing because they supported me and they've got used to eating the food that I eat," Sarah said.

Motivated by her own success, Sarah has taken on a new challenge - becoming a Slimming World consultant.

"I just felt like I wanted to start helping other people," she said.

Her approach centres on being a listener and creating a successful, supportive group that works together toward common goals.

To those hesitating about joining Slimming World, Sarah's advice is simple: "Just do it because you would never be sorry that you did."
