STAFF at four GP surgeries in Basingstoke have donated 76kg of food to the town’s foodbank to help families in need this Christmas.

Staff at surgeries run by the Camrose, Gillies and Hackwood practice (CGH) decided to collect donations due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and the practice’s social prescriber regularly referring patients to local foodbanks for support.

Collection boxes were placed in the staffrooms at each practice earlier this month and information from the foodbanks on the items that would be most helpful was regularly shared.

On Friday, December 15, members of the practice delivered the 76kg of food, hygiene and other essentials they had collected to Basingstoke Foodbank.

Practice manager Claire Osborne said: “It was so lovely to see how delighted the foodbank team were when we dropped off our donations.

"We know many of our patients are finding it hard to get by at the moment, and we hope our efforts will help make a difference this Christmas.

"I want to say thank you to everyone at our practices who chipped in - I feel very proud to work with such generous and kind people.”
