MYSTERY surrounds what is moving into an empty unit in Basingstoke’s Top of Town area.

Refurbishment work appears to have started inside the vacant premises in Winchester Street, which was previously occupied by Dragon Palace.

Coffee machines have been delivered to the venue along with an ice cream counter.

The premises has been listed on Companies House as the registered office for Alikhel Sweets Limited. However, there is no further information about the company online.

The company’s director is listed as Ibrar Alikhel, from Southampton.

A lease for the unit is now showing as ‘no longer available’.

The two-storey building includes a ground floor with an open-plan bar/restaurant, service areas, and an upstairs kitchen. At the back of the building there is a private, four-bedroom flat.
