CRIME reported in Basingstoke and Deane has decreased, but the number of violent and sexual offences reported has increased, the latest police figures show.

In September 2023, the most recent month available, 1,162 crimes were reported across the borough, which is down from 1,181 crimes reported in the previous month of August, according to data.police.uk.

The most common category was violence and sexual offences, with 430 offences reported, which is up from 421 reports in August.

Anti-social behaviour incidents were the second-most common category, with 171 reports during the month, followed by 106 reports of criminal damage and arson.
