A FAMILY-RUN village pub in Hampshire has marked its one-year anniversary with a week-long celebration.

The Mutton, in Hazeley Heath - a gastropub near the village of Hartley Wintney - celebrated its first birthday this October with a week-long series of events celebrating the pub and its dedicated local community.

Wednesday, October 11 saw head chef Rob Boer deliver a special anniversary feast with a selection of the most loved dishes from the past 12 months.

The five-course menu celebrated Rob’s love of seasonal and local produce with dishes on the menu including mutton crumpet with pickled red cabbage; grilled mackerel with lightly spiced pakora and lentil dressing; and a firm favourite for pudding - salted caramel tart.

The menu was coupled with a paired wine menu from Truffle Hunting’s founder and wine expert, Nigel Sutcliffe, who carefully handpicked a selection of wines from The Mutton’s wine list to perfectly complement each dish.

The pub also hosted a Beerfest on its terrace on Thursday, October 12, with the event sponsored by local brewery Siren.

The week of events was brought to a close with an evening of live music on Saturday, October 14 which saw The Mutton invite local talent, The Rollright Stones, to perform mellow acoustics into the evening for guests to enjoy.
