THREE friends from Basingstoke have been live streaming their climb up a mountain in aid of men's mental health.

Adam Davies and Mark Davenport, who are both 28, and Alex Rawson, 30, are all coaches at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club.

Adam and Alex are former gymnasts, who both represented Great Britain when they were younger, while Mark works as a professional stunt performer. The trio all met 20 years ago at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club.

On Monday, October 16, the trio began their crawl up Ben Nevis on their hands and knees to raise money and awareness for men's mental health and suicide prevention, with funds raised going to a charity called Men's Minds Matter.

The men decided to crawl up the mountain to show that when life is at its lowest, there is always hope to overcome challenges and reach the top.

Ben Nevis - the highest mountain in the UK - has a summit of more than 1,000 metres above sea level.

Adam previously said: "The aim is to try and encourage men to speak out when they are struggling in life and not to suffer in silence.

"All three of us are very open in admitting we have all suffered with mental health previously and have lost friends and family to suicide. Therefore, it’s a charity and cause that’s very close to our hearts.

"The reasoning behind doing it on our hands and knees is to show that even when life has you at your lowest, you can still overcome and reach the top.

"We are all aware how tough this is going to be but we are excited for the challenge and are extremely motivated to take part in this for a very important cause."
