A CHART-topping rapper has been spotted filming a music video at the Aquadrome in Basingstoke.

Nines, whose third studio album Crabs in a Bucket, topped the UK album chart in 2020, made his way to the Aquadrome to film a music video on Wednesday, September 27.

In a story posted on his Instagram account, @csbnines, the renowned music artist was audibly excited when a coach full of women who would feature in the video, arrived at the Basingstoke Leisure Park.

As the vehicle drove past, Nines can be heard saying: "We've got 1,000 tings on the coach."

Later on, another video posted to his story shows some of the action which will feature in the music video, with a group of women dancing in a circle in one of the swimming pools.

While another video shows scores of men and women enjoying themselves in the rapids.

The evening was perhaps overshadowed by a video which was posted on the Instagram story of social media influencer Drew Gilchrist, @drewissharing, which showed him rolling what appears to be marijuana inside the popular children's play facility.

Concerned readers contacted the Gazette about drug use at the swimming facility which is used by families and children.

In a statement from Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust, a spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we were approached by a video production company, who wanted to privately hire out a section of the facility for a music video shoot on Wednesday, 27 September. All necessary risk assessments were agreed and carried out prior to the booking.

“The production team were at the Aquadrome from around 8pm to around 1am on Thursday, 28 September. Since then, we have been made aware of one person who attended the video shoot being seen with what appears to be an illicit substance while inside the facility.

"We have strict booking conditions which users must comply with and we will raise issues about breaches of the booking conditions with the production company.”

Hampshire Police were contacted by the Gazette, they said that no reports in relation to this have been filed at this time, but: "If we receive any reports of this nature then they will be reviewed."

The Gazette contacted Drew Gilchrist for a comment, he said: "I wish cannabis was legal and available to all adults and not just those with a medical prescription, such as myself."

The Gazette has also reached out to Nines for a response but it has yet to receive a response.
