Cray Valley (PM)  progressed through to the third qualifying Round of the FA Trophy with a win over  Hartley Wintney following an entertaining match, writes David Graham.

Hartley started the brighter and on two minutes a free kick from Reece Wylie found George Winser on the left of the penalty area and the defender saw his shot saved by Sam Freeman in the Millers goal.

Against the run of play Cray Valley went ahead on 12 minutes. Adam Coombes found space on the right of the penalty area and was pulled down by a Row defender as he was about to cross.  Adam Coombes took the resultant penalty himself and scored (1-0).

On 19 minutes the Millers almost doubled their lead. With a few Hartley defenders misplaced following a midfield tussle Denzil Gayle broke down the right and his cross found unmarked Julien Anau who saw his fierce shot from 12 yards crash against the underside of the crossbar and out to safety.

Hartley came into the game and had a good spell for the remainder of the half. Approaching  half time Hartley piled on the pressure. On 43 minutes a corner on the right from Wylie found Taylor Morgan who saw his close-range header brilliantly tipped over the bar by one-time Hartley keeper Freeman.

Hartley started the second half well and on 47 minutes almost pulled level. A Wylie corner found Morgan who was unlucky to see his effort go just over.

Cray Valley gained the ascendancy later and on 86 minutes Anau was unlucky to see his shot hit the cross bar and a minute later Tom Chambers combined with Lisbie and the latter shot just wide.

The match was put out of Hartley’s reach on 88 minutes when a free-flowing move led to Vigor setting up Feddie Parker who showed composure in front of goal and scored to put his side into the next round (2-0).
