THE A30 Brighton Hill Roundabout will see further road closures in October as the improvement works enter the next stage, involving night works that will impact traffic flow in the area.

These works are part of the roundabout improvement scheme.

The infrastructure works will be carried out during nights from 8pm on Monday, October 2, to Thursday, October 19, with all roads reopening at 6am each morning to all traffic.

The works will involve full road closures on each of the arms of the roundabout on the following dates:

  • Monday, October 2 – Thursday, October 5: A30 Winchester Road (Western) approach and departure from the roundabout and Brighton Way.
  • Monday, October 9 – Thursday, October 12: The Harrow Way and Old Winchester Road
  • Monday, October 16 – Thursday, October 19: A30 (Eastern) approach and departure from the roundabout

The night works are necessary to complete critical tasks such as laying the final road surface, applying road markings, and installing street lighting and vehicle detection loops for the new traffic signals.

Hampshire County Council said these essential improvements require full road closures on each arm of the roundabout during work nights.

While the works are underway, access to properties and businesses in the vicinity will be maintained at all times, including pedestrian access.

Businesses will continue to operate as usual, ensuring minimal disruption to daily activities.

For the convenience of road users, signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures.

Heavy goods vehicle (HGV) traffic on or approaching the A30 will be redirected to use Junctions 6 and 7 on the M3 to alleviate local congestion.
