A MAN and woman from Basingstoke have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

Police stopped a vehicle travelling along Red Lion Lane, near the Red Lion Car Park, on Monday, September 18. 

Officers carried out a search of the vehicle and suspected Class A and Class B drugs were found.

Following the vehicle stop, officers searched an address in the town, finding more suspected Class A and B drugs.

A 33-year-old man from Basingstoke and a 29-year-old woman, of no fixed abode, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after officers stopped a car in Basingstoke yesterday.

"Officers stopped a vehicle on Red Lion Lane at around 11am on Monday 18 September. A search of the car was conducted and suspected Class A and Class B drugs were found.

"Officers later searched an address and found more suspected Class A and Class B drugs.

"A 33-year-old man, from Basingstoke, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B.

"A 29-year-old woman, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.

"The pair have been bailed with conditions until 18 December while our enquiries continue."
