PEOPLE from different faiths and community groups joined together to go for a walk in a show of solidarity.

The annual Interfaith Walk, designed to promote friendship and harmony among people of faith in Basingstoke, took place on Sunday, September 10 and brought together numerous societies and groups who enjoyed a celebration at the Fellowship Education Society Center.

The free event, organised by the Basingstoke Multicultural Forum (BMF) and Faith Leaders Forum, sees residents of all backgrounds walk through the town together in a show of solidarity.

Attendees gathered at Eastrop Park, by the boathouse, before walking to the Top of Town and stopping for a minute's reflection outside the Willis Museum.

Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr David Leeks was also in attendance at the event and made a speech to the group at Eastrop Park.

From there, the group walked the short remaining distance to the Fellowship Education Society centre to listen to speeches, mix and enjoy some refreshments.

Cllr Leeks said: "This is a great opportunity for all the different faiths and communities across Basingstoke to get together, and have the opportunity to mix and have a chat.

"In light of incidents across the world, such as the earthquake in Morocco, it's a time for faiths to come together in solidarity.

"We're very fortunate our community in Basingstoke is made up of many different cultures and faiths and this walk is testament to that, and it's great to see everyone mixing and chatting away."
