BASINGSTOKE Gang Show performed to their 'biggest audience in its 43-year history' as they entertained festival-goers at CarFest.

The award-winning show put on by Guide and Scout associations was part of the main stage line-up at the festival which took place at Laverstoke Park Farm, in Overton, from August 25-27.

The Gang Show performed five times on Saturday, August 25, including taking to the main stage in front of more than 25,000 people.

Basingstoke Gang Show chairman Steve Edney said: “I’m super proud of the cast, crew and adult volunteers who dared to dream as together we created an experience which will live with people involved forever.

“Performing at CarFest on the main stage is bonkers, it is recognition and a true celebration of the positive impact Basingstoke Scouts and Guides has on our community.”

Nineteen young people represented the cast of the gang show 2023. Steve said they “absolutely delivered a performance which delighted the mega festival audience and with outstanding vocals and dance moves across two numbers from our most recent show at The Haymarket”.

The Basingstoke Gang Show also delivered performances at The Big Early on Thursday, August 24, with Curtis Pritchard from Love Island playing a cameo role as ‘the duck’ in front of 8,000 people. The Big Early is for campers before the main festival opens.

CarFest organiser Chris Evans was presented with the gang show emblem - the 'red scarf’ - which he wore all night, and after their performance, he said: “Let’s hear it for Basingstoke Gang Show you were awesome”.
