A LIFE-SAVING Hampshire charity is looking for brave 'soles' to take on a fire walk in Basingstoke.

On Thursday, September 14, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance supporters will be unleashing their inner thrill seeker as they walk over hot coals burning at around 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit (650 Celsius).

Groups, clubs, workplaces and individuals in the Basingstoke area and beyond can take part in the event at Chineham Business Park, with the charity calling on people in the region to sign up and help them continue flying and saving lives 365 days a year.

Keith Wilson, HIOWAA director of income and engagement, said: “Each mission we attend costs on average £3,320. Fundraising events such as the fire walk are not only a great way for us to raise vital funds that we need to carry out our life-saving work, but they are crucial in getting us engaged with the local community whom we rely upon. We would love to see people coming out in force to support their local air ambulance charity.”

The air ambulance responds to seriously ill and severely injured people throughout the region. The charity’s pilots, doctors and specialist paramedics bring specialist skills and equipment to the patient’s side.

Participants for the fire walk must be over the age of 18, although children over the age of 14 can participate if accompanied by a participating adult. The charity’s state-of-the-art flight simulator van will also be at the event for participants and spectators to test out their pilot skills.

Entry is £18 and registration on the night opens at 6.15pm. Anyone wanting to get involved can sign up at register.enthuse.com/ps/event/Firewalk20232.
