A TALENTED youngster from Woolton Hill had the shock of his life when he was invited up on stage to close this year's CarFest.

Harry Frost went along to the annual festival at Laverstoke Park Farm in Overton with his mother Barbra, father Russell and brother where he held up and carried around a handmade sign that said ‘Let me DJ’.

The family brought a USB stick containing some of Harry's work in case he got the opportunity to play.

Their trip ended with the 12-year-old closing the whole weekend with a nearly 30-minute drum and bass set on Sunday, August 2, on the Club CarFest Stage, and he has even been invited to appear officially next year.

Barbra said that Harry, who has autism and ADHD, has attended the festival since he was two.

Using the festival as inspiration he first started to DJ in 2018 and has been determined to play music on stage ever since.

She said: "To him, having autism is not a disability but a gift. He could listen to any song and then be able to play it almost instantly."

His handmade sign attracted the attention of artists at the festival and amazingly after meeting radio presenter Chris Evans, Harry ended up playing six songs on stage.

His proud mother said: "It was just so surreal to see him play on stage and the crowd loved him they went absolutely mental."

During his appearance, Harry played a range of songs including Baddadan, the new hit single by electronic music duo, Chase & Status.

Barbra said Harry, who goes by the name DJ Hypester, wants a career in music and she hopes this will help him achieve that dream.

Barbra said the youngster will be starting at St Bart’s School in Newbury but is in talks to play at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth and The Big Feastival in Oxfordshire.
